This is a birch stave snare I built for a very close friend of mine. He’s kind enough to let me use his drums as test subjects for different ideas. His only criteria was that it be black and have holes. It ended up getting twelve large vent holes that got progressively larger as the project went on. (A little bit of tear out can really ruin an idea.)
All in all it turned out great and I learned through my mistakes to better succeed on the next one. In true birch style, this one is nice and loud!
