When I first started Radius Drums, I never imagined I’d have one of my creations in the hands of someone like Jerry Marotta—a true legend behind the kit.
Jerry has played with some of the most iconic artists of our time:
Peter Gabriel, Paul McCartney, Hall & Oates, Sarah McLachlan, Elvis Costello, and many more. His discography spans decades and genres, and his drumming has helped shape the sound of countless records.
So when he chose one of my latest builds, a custom figured oak snare drum, I was ecstatic that it was going to someone special. That drum was hand-crafted with care, built not just for tone and performance, but to highlight the uncommon beauty of a particular piece of wood as red oak rarely has this type of figuring in the grain.
And now? He just posted a killer unboxing video, sharing his first impressions of the snare—and it’s already getting some views.
Seeing Jerry light up as he checks out the drum is a huge moment for Radius Drums. It’s a reminder of why I do this: to build instruments that excite, inspire, and connect with artists on a deep level.

The drum is a 4.5″x14″ Red Oak, 10 stave snare featuring a Trick- 3 position throw-off, Canopus snare wire, and as always, Evans drumheads.
